New story out in Norwegian ski anthology
December 28, 2012 § 4 Comments
I”m pleased and honored to announce that a story of mine has just come out in Fra Heming unge til Hemingway, a new anthology of ski literature published by Jevelforlaget in Lillhammer, Norway (Jon Vegard Lunde, editor and translator). It’s a gorgeously illustrated hardcover that also includes works by Hemingway, Balzac, Thomas Mann, Hammond Innes, Ian Fleming, Sylvia Plath, and many others.
The story is called “Requiem for en vinter” (“A Requiem for Winter”), and it’s an excerpt from my novel of the same name. This was my first attempt at a novel, and it was a great labor of love, though it is deeply flawed as narrative and is not destined to see publication in anything other than excerpted form.
My thanks go out to Jon Vegard Lunde for his kind persistence, and for what I assume is a fine translation from English to Norwegian. If you love skiing and writing and know how to read Norwegian, you can buy the book here.
What a surprise. Thanks, Tim!
Jon Vegard
Thank you, Jon. It’s a beautiful book and I’m honored to be part of it!
Dear Tim, I too am collecting skiing stories for my anthology of skiing in literature. I was brought up in Norway so of course can read Jon Vegard Lunde’s translation of your short story in Requiem for Winter. Would it be possible for me to read it in English – and include it in my antholgy – for which I have a publisher – Unicorn Publishing Group. Very best from ingrid
